Summary:
Benson Fisher thought that a scholarship to Maxfield Academy would be the ticket out of his dead-end life. He was wrong. Now he's trapped in a school that's surrounded by a razor-wire fence. A school where video cameras monitor his every move. Where there are no adults. Where the kids have split in groups in order to survive. Where breaking the rules equal death. But when Benson stumbles upon the school's real secret , he realizes that playing by the rules could spell a fate worse than death , and that escape -his only real hope for survival-may be impossible
  Review:
Overall I totally loved reading this book! It definitely pulled me in. A great science fiction read. This book was recommended to me by a friend. The main character in this story Benson Fisher is very determined and keen. Almost nothing gets past him. He needs those characteristics in a school with A LOT of crazy people. The plot in this book was very well written. There was a lot of on the edge of your seat and chilling moments in this novel to make a good dystopian read. I like in this book how there were no adults in the school so you could really see the kids have to build their own government and work together to keep everything at an “orderly fashion”. I honestly think the school is crazy and weird. It’s like they are part of messed up experiment. There are no adults , all of their resources they need comes up a chute through a closet. If the students want to buy clothes or cool things they have to buy them with points! They get points buy taking on different roles at the school as groups. There are 3 groups Society, they are the goody-goody’s and always follow the rules. Their role at the school is security and nursing. Then there’s Havoc who are like your punk rock kids and bad kids who like to beat up everybody. They like to wear gold chains. Their job is cafeteria staff and maintaining the school field. Then there are the Variants. They are neither Havoc or Society. They are kind of neutral but their main goal is to break out of the school. Since they are lower on the food chain their job is janitorial staff. In sum , this book is really good read, especially if you like science fiction! I gave this 5 stars on good reads. Fans of Ender’s Game and The Maze Runner will really enjoy this book.
