Dorothy Must Die Book Review

Hello! I just finished Dorothy Must Die  by Danielle Paige. It was really good. I can't wait to share my thoughts with you. 

Summary(goodreads):I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.

Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still the yellow brick road, though—but even that's crumbling.

What happened? Dorothy.

They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.

My name is Amy Gumm—and I'm the other girl from Kansas.

I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.

 Review:

When I first heard about this story I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. When I did , I plowed right in. This was a captivating story. I thought it was so cool how Dorothy was the evil one , not anybody else.

  The main character Amy Gumm is so fierce. I love that she has pink hair. She's a very strong character. I believe Amy is so strong because she had to fend for herself at a young age. She was bullied constantly. Her mother basically stopped caring about her and turned to drinking , so Amy had to take care of her mom. 

 There were very interesting characters in this novel and some who I disliked very much.

Dorothy was so unbelievably evil. I kind of liked that. I thought it was very neat how the author took a character who was supposed to be so sweet and kind , but made her into something so terrifying and vicious. Dorothy even dressed different. She still had the blue and white plaid dress but it was super tight and short. 

All of Dorothy friend's from The Wizard of Oz were like her henchmen and just as evil as her. Even Toto! 

   In this story you meet new characters like from The Revolutionary Order of the Wicked. Their main goal is to kill Dorothy and restore order to Oz, even if some of them are wicked witches . Like Mombi and Gert. Also part of the Order is Glinda's twin sister-Glamora. 

I really like  the character Nox. He trains with Amy to help her get ready to kill Dorothy. Amy and Nox don't really like each other in the beginning. They have a love/hate relationship.

   The setting of Oz in this story was very jaw dropping. It's not the same anymore since Dorothy took over. She destroyed a lot of towns , so basically there's a lot of ghost towns every where. 

  Overall , I enjoyed this story so much! I love all things Oz and the plot was so interesting so obviously I had to read it. Pick this story up , you won't regret it. Have a great day! -Gabby
